Larry Strong: Metal
I learned to weld in high school welding and metal forging
classes. I used these skills to repair equipment on the farm
where I grew up in Mitchell, Nebraska. In high school and
college I did a lot of welding while building hot rods. I
continued taking welding classes in college. I taught high
school welding classes for two years. In the years that we have
lived in our home, I have used my welding skills to make a
variety of repairs. When Marie started fusing glass I started
making stands for her sculptures. I’m continually learning new
processes with the variety of metals and techniques available.
